Latin America regional workshop

In order to address these issues, UNCTAD organized a high-level regional meeting, which was attended by key policy regulators and lead experts in the area of accounting and insurance for MSMEs. The workshop was part of UNCTAD’s project “Capacity-building for financial inclusion and access of small and medium-sized enterprises to finance”.

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to address issues in accounting and insurance, with a view to facilitating regulatory, institutional and technical capacity building and to enabling the development of action-oriented strategies in these areas, including at a regional level. The meeting facilitated sharing good practices and networking among participants.

UNCTAD and regional partner EAFIT University had the opportunity to present and discuss materials aligned with international good practices on accounting and insurance for MSMEs, and facilitate dialogue between key stakeholders at the regional level.

The objectives of this meeting were twofold:

  • Enabling the design and implementation of action plans in accounting and insurance for MSMEs; and
  • Facilitating networks and raising awareness of national, regional and global platforms to share good practices.

The workshop took place on 28-29 November 2016 in Medellin, Colombia. Here are the programme, conclusions and list of participants and presentations of the workshop.
